Intergenerational Worship

We now have one, intergenerational service at 10:30 a.m., with Sunday school for Adults, Children and Youth at 9:15.

Contemp ServiceProviding both tradition and contemporary music and set in our awe-inspiring worship space, the service is a touchstone to our Christian faith, engaging the hearts and minds of those gathered through contemporary music and a message that connects. The Praise Team vocalists are accompanied by piano, drums, and acoustical guitar as the congregation gives equal voice in lifting up praise to God. Children and adults of all ages are finding this to be an inspiring and inclusive time of worship and fellowship meaningful to their lives amid their weekly routines.

Handbell and Chancel choirs add their "voices" to the worship service.

As the first activity of the day on Sundays, this service sets the tone of this very welcoming and friendly church and carries it forward in all that we do. The service focuses on the word of God illuminated through prayer, music, sacrament and preaching. We begin worship with a prelude on the historic pipe organ and a choral or bell-choir introit. Praise songs and hymns and anthems serve to further glorify God. The liturgist, music director, choir, praise team, accompanists, pastor and congregation each are given voice as we praise and call upon God as a family of faith.  Orchestral music, drama (both youth and adult) and liturgical dance may on occasion spice our offering of praise. Children are welcome and regularly participate in receiving a message designed just for them prior to Children’s Church for those who wish. (They are dismissed to parents or guardians following Children’s Church). Children also take up our “Noisy Offering” the fourth Sunday of the month, collecting change for use in the Deacon’s ministry to those in need. Our worship invites warmth and caring as the congregation takes a moment to “pass the peace of Christ” to other church members, friends and visitors. Many of our visitors return to become long-term friends or active members, having been blessed by attending such a sincere and inviting worship service. Enriched by history and its spectacular architecture, the sanctuary is the focal point of life at First Presbyterian Church, from which our faith, service, compassion, and praise flow forth into our community, the greater Metro Area and beyond.
