THE CHURCH BULLETIN BOARD
The Mission Committee is sponsoring our Brown Bags to support Community Service League. We will be handing out the bags today, July 23 and collecting them next Sunday. This is in conjunction with the Homelessness Coalition of Independence who is trying to put a spotlight on the issue of homelessness in our community. The emphasis this month is non-perishable and high-protein food items such as peanut butter, canned meats, etc. Our Brown Bags will be sponsored on the fifth Sundays throughout the year to coincide with the Coalition’s sponsored collections.
The Independence schools will be back in session on August 17. And with this, come many needs for school children. The Mission Committee is now collecting school supplies (red bucket in the Parlour.) Please see the school supplies list insert in your bulletin today. The deadline for these collections is July 24. Thank you for your generosity.

It’s not too early for the artsy/crafty among us to begin creating their contributions for a new FPC fundraiser, the Craft Bazaar, set for Sept. 10, 2017, and hosted by the Divine Design Craft Group, Sew and Sow Quilting Group and Presbyterian Women. Also happening that day are Homecoming Sunday and the Deacons’ Fall Fling. Crafts will be displayed for sale in Westminster Hall, with proceeds going to Procter Elementary School (our New Beginnings partner) and a new disaster-relief fund of PW to assist families in the community. All artists are welcome to donate. Contact Sharon Kennedy (816-833-3886), Barbara Graham (816-803-5558), or Cindy Briner (816-252-6440) if you have any questions.
The ChristCare Small Group Divine Design craft group will not be taking the month of August off so they can prepare for their Bazaar in September.
Please notify the church office of any address changes, phone number changes, births, etc. You may email or call the secretary with these updates. Thank you for your help.
